It's been nearly one week being back at home, Port Townsend. The likelihood of finding a job locally is slim, since I already tried for months prior to leaving, but this is a good homebase while I continue searching. My wonderful friends, Debbi and Dennis, have allowed me to stay in their house while they're traveling around the country. It's a lovely, comfortable home which is familiar to me and I feel safe. Feeling safe is underrated. I'm still not quite back to my old self - I had been really on edge everywhere for the past three weeks - worried always that my car was going to get broken into or my bike stolen, I'd be attacked by a bear or a mountain lion, or some creeper would try to get in my tent. I know this kind of thing can happen anywhere. Perhaps it's better to be more concerned since reality isn't that close to Port Townsend - leaving your bike propped up against a house, unlocked, would be asking for it to get stolen in most places - but, not here.
It's been nice to have some rest and relaxation and as I continue job hunting, which is getting very tiresome, let me tell you. It's been difficult to keep motivated in the job hunt.
Since being back I've went on a farm tour with I-Kwoan and Ollie,
volunteered to clean tanks at the science center and started
volunteering back at the North Olympic Salmon Coalition doing salmon
surveys. And I'm always looking for more opportunities. This weekend
I'll assist with a Syrian cooking class. Next week I'll go back to salmon survey and hopefully cut off some scales and heads to take samples, and donate blood. It is awesome that in such a
small place there are so many unique and special opportunities, just not
for jobs...

oh claud, i'd never tire of pics of you grinning next to a dead fish in a stream ;).
sorry to hear it has been a difficult transition. i wish things would just work out for you and the answer would be right there in front of you. it sounds like you continue to keep busy (syrian cooking class-i have to hear about this!) which is good. xox
Glad to hear you're getting some R&R.
