Off off and away to Mount Townsend for Trip #3 since I lived here. This time with my buddy Matt. We set off bright and early around 7am to get to the trail head shortly after 8am. I was resistant to this particular hike since there are oodles of hikes and why do the same one again when you can pretty much always do something new? Matt is a plant person though and was dying to see the wildflowers on this particular hike. So, I gave in. We hiked through dense fog for the first 30min then started to see trees in the distance popping out. Eventually we were above the clouds and it almost seemed like we were in an airplane. The wildflowers were spectacular and we peaked in around 2 hours (4.1 miles later). It was gorgeous above with good views but the entire Hood Canal was still obscured by a thick cloud layer. We had an early lunch and soaked up the sun and the glory of having the mountain top all to ourselves - it seemed we were the first to summit that day.

| Three ladies came up behind us in our picnic and said, let us take a photo of you w/ the background - you can kinda see the effect I mentioned of the clouds behind us. |
