Seneca Creek State Park

I'm full time as the Park Naturalist (a seasonal gig) until sometime this fall. I drive a gator or mule, like the one in the first picture. I've led some programs already, an owl prowl (complete with live Barred and Screech owls), some informal turtle talks, a pollinator program and today I lead a nature walk, oh yeah an a history open house. I remember how much I love to do this stuff when I'm done because I always feel, "that way fun." If only you could sustain oneself on jobs like this, but you can't. The wages are pitiful, but it is a way to get a foot in the Maryland Park Service. I worked for the park service as an AmeriCorps volunteer right out of college. I remember some processes and procedures and there are staff at this park that know staff from that one I was at over 10 years ago (oh how the parks don't change). Anyway, I take my camera with me everyday so more photos to come.

Park office, I get to share my desk with about 5-6? other people.

Grusendorf cabin (next to the park office), relocated there in the 90s but original from the early 1800s. I did an open house one day and the story is fascinating.

Earth Day Walk, only me and volunteers, well one official attendee (Phyllis on the left who is Nik in the middle's wife and he's a Volunteer Ranger)
