Whales in the Salish Sea

Also before my trip back east, I helped teach lessons for a camp called Whales in the Salish Sea. The Salish Sea is a body of water that encompasses part of the Puget Sound, and bodies of water north and to the west. We mainly focused on orcas as far as whales go and I taught Orca Food Webs, Plankton and lead a group art mural class. I was happy with how all the classes ran and the kids really seemed to get a lot out of it. The students were from a local middle school and were the guinea pigs for this three day camp. It was part of a grant from an anonymous donor and will be done again in the spring but will then be a residential camp with a full week and overnight programming. I learned some new things about plankton myself and was so happy with the mural.
