Local hiking, part deux

Valorie and I set off last weekend for a more challenging hike of 5.5 miles out near Sequim this time. The trail was well paved and we set off downhill most of the time and after 45minutes, reached the beach. We hung out, scoped out driftwood, stones, and looked at local birds and boats out on the water w/ my binoculars. We were the closest to Protection Island from land that I've ever been. It is a large island that is unhabited, except by many many seabirds. There is actually a small colony of tufted puffins that nest there in the summer as well as sea lions, harbor seals, and oodles of birds. The tranquility of the walk in nature, we saw no one, was again great to experience with a friend in winter. Thanks Val!
This one is good for showing the ravine and the size of the trees

Beach art, Valorie is off to the right in the blue, can you see her?

V pointed this out, so I got artsy fartsy w/ the camera
