Nearly a month ago now, I took David out for a hike. He has hiked before, but I told him this was a different kind of "hiking" than he was used to. Boy was I right. Tunnel Creek was beautiful and the trail meandered alongside the creek for miles. After crossing the creek however, the trail took an abrupt turn up and all the elevation gain appeared to be smooshed into 1.5mi. We reached the top, not to some of the stunning views I've had before, but still the beauty of a neighboring peak. We found a little spot to park ourselves and lunched. I'm trying to convince David he needs to adopt a shorts rule during hiking. Instead he insists on continuing his "uniform" of carhardt pants and t-shirts...ok, if you like to sweat it out! It was a good reality check at our fitness level.
