Shortly after moving to Pittsburgh, a coworker told me about the Dolly Sods. Then I was told about Thomas, WV...then I realized they were all relatively close to one another. The hiking was hot and sweaty and uneventful. I carried my bear mace just in case. We didn't see anyone/thing until the end of the hike when we were sitting at the largest trail junction. The two men we talked to told us that there were lots of other people they ran into, I guess we were on the other side of the forest? I was underwhelmed by the Dolly Sods...maybe we went to the wrong spot or something or maybe my expectations are just much higher than other people?
