Dosewalliops

Almost two weeks ago already, Valorie and I ventured out into the woods at the Dosewalliops, part of the Olympic National Forest a bit over an hour south of PT. We followed the Hood Canal down toward Brinnon then into the woods on the west and mud puddles. Of course the day prior I had splurged for a car wash...now erased! We didn't go out for too long, just enough to squelch our nature thirst.
Snow on the river!

Soooo pretty!
After about 15min on the trail we hit snow, and three inches! After an hour our boots were wet but we stopped next to the small creek for lunch in the sunshine. We had left PT with rain and were certain we'd be heading into just more of it but lucky us, we found the sunshine! It was so beautiful in that area - a part of the Olympics I hadn't yet explored. There is also some pretty fascinating history. Part of the road was washed out about ten years ago and had went to a drive in campground. You can no long get to it by car, just foot or bike, and people still go and camp there in the sites that are now overgrown, but have grills and picnic tables. Kinda seems like it's from a different time or maybe more of like a ghost campground, even though it's still used. We were just about the only people on the trail except some tough momma who was pushing her child who was entirely too big for a stroller, in the stroller, yes on the snow on the rough trail! Another fun hike w/ Valorie again!

The sunny sky, and the old road was just off to my right...but once was probably visible from this angle.
