For the 5th time in my Port Townsend history, I found myself moving from one abode to the next...it seems to be a PT tradition for me to be packing, moving and slightly homeless at this time of year (this being the 3rd time I was moving around October 31st). The first year I was moving out of the trailer for the first time and had a housesit for 3 weeks while I scouted rooms for rent. Last year I was returning from my road trip and my good friends Dennis and Debbie let me stay in their home but then I moved into the trailer on November 1st, and I don't recall where I lived a few days prior to that switch, perhaps my car. Then finally this year, while balancing a 3 week housesit, I began to pack up the trailer (for the 3rd time, if you count the bed bug scare) and move my things to the house I'll be living in until spring.
Because I couldn't get in touch with the owners of the house to see if I could move in early, I ended up staying with David on his boat Sea Cloud (which is now his home) for a week until I heard word from them. Sea Cloud is cozy, but I'm not quite used to the idea of living longer term in that small space w/ tiny windows for a winter in PT...summer's a different story...winter is hard enough w/out living in a space lacking pretty much any natural light!
So my things were sprawled at one point in three different locations...nearly four. Halloween, being my favorite holiday, has gotten the shaft of being appropriately celebrated due to the repetitious upheaval/deja vu of my life at this time of year. Since I didn't get to really celebrate in full glory and instead my friends threw me a "trailer cooling party." Instead of a house warming to celebrate a new abode, we were celebrating the end of my trailer era. Well, at least that specific trailer's era. We ate chili and chili rellanoes...get it?! "Trailer cool down party." I'm finally out of the trailer and in the house w/ a few things on David's boat for if/when I stay there. Picture of new home to come...
