Final Oregon coast day

Cape Disappointment is a large park. We went to it on a day that was gray and by the time we arrived it was  later in the afternoon. By the time we saw one of the lighthouses, it was nearly dusk. We decided we'd go back the next day on the way out of town to see the jetty's and the other lighthouse. Cape Disappointment is everything but a disappointment. It ended up being both of our favorite parts of the trip. We arrived the next morning and sought out the second light house. The sun began to show and then we decided to seek out the north jetty. We walked quite a ways, David nearly went to the end. We watched Coast Guard practice exercises from shore, were nearly 15ft away from a peregrine falcon, David saw his first pelican, and we watched a massive cargo ship successfully navigate out of the treacherous waters of the Columbia River sandbar (some of the worst waters in the WORLD). We set off from this area to drive north and through the beautiful Willapa Bay area as well.  Oh yeah, and we went to see the Lewis & Clark Saltworks, the Goonie house and walked on the beach! Great trip! We will go back!

Morning beach walk on our last day

Another lighthouse at Cape Disappointment

Beautiful crashing waves, now you can envision why  ships crash here

Goonie House!

Feeling pretty happy on the jetty
