By now I've pretty much settled in town, know my way around, and relish in the fact that I can leave somewhere at get there in 5 minutes, there is no traffic, it's okay to wear sandals and socks together, you can see the sunset on the beach most nights, there are consignment/thrift shops everywhere, people come to vacation where I live and I could probably go on for a while. I've been fortunate to have met some really great people my age who I can socialize with outside of work and then work with our lovely volunteers who range from many different backgrounds and are high schoolers to retired folk.
I'm also thankful not to be dying in the northeast heat wave and instead enjoying cool temperatures with highs in the 70s and low 80s and I can snuggle up in blankets at night which is a first for me in the summer time! Sorry east coasters, stay cool or come out to see me!
Thank you for all the love and support that you've all shown me in the past weeks since I left and even before I left. It is so thoughtful and encouraging and while I'm enjoying everything here so much, I haven't forgotten about where I came from and all of you.
There are peace signs are all over Port Townsend so I figured this would be a fitting time to post one :) There is a field in town where when wildflowers bloom they are in the shape of a peace sign but i wasn't here in the prime bloom time so a picture just wouldnt' do it justice. I'll just have to come back next spring and take a picture :)
