Okay, I'll admit it, summer's over. I can no longer comfortably wear my chacos every day. But luckily that means fall and Halloween, which I really enjoy. Here in town I've heard all about this thing called gleaning. I didn't get a chance to do this but I did get to use some of the benefits of friends who gleaned. Gleaning means to gather grain left behind by reapers...but in this case the grain was apples. Jean, the volunteer coordinator at the science center had an apple press that came with her house when she bought it. She hosted me and other marine science center staff for a lovely afternoon of apple pressing. I've picked apples before and I've had cider but this is the best cider I've ever had. Every time I took a sip it was better than I'd remembered from the last sip. It was an afternoon of fun with my awesome coworkers and a good beginning of fall activities for me. Stay tuned for a post on my last days of work and halloween next week!

Sounds nice, I could go for some cider right about now.
