I told you PT was crazy

As I'd written a few blogs ago, Port Townsend has a definite quirky side. This was on display, front and center, this past weekend at the town's Kinetic Sculpture race. I don't think I really have to say much since the pictures show it all. I think there were about 20 different mobiles that were built, part sculpture, part locomotive and they were put to the test, traveling through town, up and down huge hills, through a mud pit, land, water, the list goes on. Of course my favorite that I cheered on was the orca mobile (see picture). And the riders, drivers, pit crews had ridiculous outfits on --- I don't know how to even describe them.

I have been pretty tired and bummed about working weekends lately since I've been missing out on so many cool things. However, this event actually had a pitstop right in front of the science center so i was able to watch while at work. So, thanks kinetic sculpture people, for both bringing the excitement to me, making my day at work livelier, and for bringing character to this town, not that it didn't already have a ton.
