The life

Last week for work I traveled to Sequim which is about 45minutes west of Port Townsend. I've been there before and about a month ago I went there to hike the Dungeness Spit, which is one of the world's largest natural sand spits. My coworker Julia and I were asked to come and work with high schoolers. We actually ended up teaching on the beach at Dungeness Spit and talking about the geology of the area (formed by glaciers) as well as the spit, the importance of the spit to birds and then also a nearby island (Protection Island) which is home for many many seabirds and seals. That's one of my coworkers (Jen) in the photo talking to all the kids before we left. Most of the day was spent teaching them about plastics, but you can see the bluff that was formed by glaciers on the left and the Olympic Mountains in the background. And the typical fog that often sits around on the water for hours. The lesson Julia and I were in charge of had to be created and brainstormed in about 15minutes but we rocked it and who can complain about spending their day on a beach in the sunlight? Days like those make me really realize how awesome my job at PTMSC is and also fill me with dread about my internship ending shortly because I don't want it to end.
