Cookies!

Last week I met the Marine Science Center gals for a mini xmas. We exchanged gifts and then made cookies. I thought this year would go on without the yearly cookie making tradition since I wouldn't be home with my mom for xmas, but it continues on. Jess and I threw together the ingredients to make sugar cookies, sand tarts, whatever you like to call them, and then after a bit of it was cold enough to roll, got the cookie making factory going. I ended being the Rolling Pin Queen, rolling the dough out, using the cookie cutters and then Julia and Jess put them on the baking sheets and manned the oven, made icing while Heather and Val were expert decorators! Everyone got into decorating after a bit - all the cookies were marine themed in shape of course, and we got some pretty creative looking cookies. I kept at the rolling pin until almost 11pm. At the end, in honor of my cookie making past, I made the traditional "blob" cookie that my mom and I have made each year with the left over dough. It was super fun and yummy. Sand tart makers of the world unite! And mom you would have been proud of my rolling pin skills.
