For the entire month of November I have been without permanent home. I first lived with friends and then for a bit over three weeks I house sat. Things always seem to have a way of working out in Port Townsend and these gigs came up and fit together perfectly. The first was with Sammy who I wrote about in another blog and the second was with Sushi. The second place was above a store in town, a one bedroom apartment. At each new place I go to it takes a few days for me to get adjusted, figure out where everything is, unpack some items and feel like "home" for a bit. My sleeping pattern has been pretty erratic, going to bed late and if I'm lucky falling asleep after an hour of laying there, then only getting a few hours of REM sleep before I wake up around 8am...which is pretty late for me. I'm so looking forward to getting more into a routine which will include more regular sleeping arrangements. On Wednesday I moved into a 2br house between the fort and uptown. My things don't have a place to go though since I don't really have furniture so I'll be spending the next few days in search of a few items so that I can unpack and have a home. In the meantime, the room consists of only a mattress and a desk. I've been sleeping in my sleeping bag on the mattress and in the morning rolling over, grabbing my laptop and starting to work right away. I'll get life in order soon enough though and hopefully be able to focus on the future as opposed to taking life day by day.
Here's a picture of Sushi, the little black and white domestic I sat for. She's tiny and very active.
