Last week, the frozen Humbolt squid was retrieved from the freezer at the science center's shed. It was thawed and we painted it with different colors of permanent paint. Next we laid different colored sheets upon it and created squid prints! These nerdy wall hangings are good conversation starters and have a modern, IKEA-esque feel to them. Wherever I live next, a squid print will grace the wall of my humble abode. The cost = $2 for the sheet I got at Goodwill!
Outcome: unique decoration that can never be replicated. No squid was harmed in the process - this guy/gal washed up onshore already dead.
Thar she is! Well, I don't think we knew the sex, but we moved it around so you can see the beak. That white thing in the middle
They have beaks much like a parrot which they use to kill and eat their prey.
We're painting it black this time, we also did white and purple prints.
Ta-da! Pretty good, eh?
