Marine Biology Camp, Take 2

Beach walk to the lighthouse

The whole crew!

Camper Claudia

My second year teaching at Marine Biology Camp at the science center commenced last week. With a full group of 31 campers, staff and junior counselors we had our hands full. We had terrific kids though we no real trouble makers. The week was spent tidepooling, doing beach clean-ups and walks, learning about plankton, marine invertebrates, plastics, fish anatomy, and orca communication. We fish printed our t-shirts, journal-ed, played ultimate frisbee and made our own "whale-to-scale" on the beach. The ages from 9-13 allowed for varied levels of personalities but all in all, I had a fabulous time. It was great to be outdoors each day and seeing the kids have fun and having much of it myself. At the end of the week, I had to get a picture of myself to share with all of you. I suppose since I wasn't a camper when I was younger, I'm making up for lost time. And to think that I get paid to do this, awesome.
