Not all Christmas trees are created equal. Since moving to Washington though, I have experienced different types and outlooks on Christmas trees. In my life, the tradition was to find beautiful, full, Douglas firs at local tree farms or Home Depot. Since moving here, I have been witness to all types of trees, all loved and adored and truly appreciated, no matter the size, shape or style. Most people I know go out into the National Forest and buy $5 permits to pick and cut out their own trees. This can often be quite an adventure, I've heard. In a way, they all had so much character and reminded me of Charlie Brown Christmas in spirit - but of course, not pitiful, just full of love, see below.

The tree I helped pick out with Lee, compliments of the local cubscouts. Lee is the lady I housesat for over the holiday - it was said to have "hips" but you can't see if from this angle

The tree Valerie sent me in the mail to decorate so I would have a tree in the trailer!

The Harrison's droopy, willow-weepingesque like tree - reminds me of Treebeard from Lord of the Rings - it was Oliver's first venture into the national forest to help dad (evan) cut it down with I-Kwoan.

Todd's spindly and modest yet even tree cut from the national forest - he cut it himself.
