The biggest news this past week was SNOW! That white stuff is rare in these parts as the temperate climate keeps us hovering in the low 40s most of the winter. Plenty of grey and rain we get but there's only a few times a year where it drops below freezing and is precipitating at the same time. Therefore...it's quite an event when it does happen. We ended up with probably around 6inches over the course of 2-3 days. I know, I know, east coasters are thinking, what's the big deal?! But, due to its rarity, the county doesn't have the manpower, equipment or necessarily the practice to get the roads up to speed (no pun intended), so things just shut down for a while until they're under control, and you just walk everywhere. There were complaints but also a lot of excitement as well.
Seattle got a bit more and ice so there was a "state of emergency," and I do think, it is blown out of proportion a bit but I guess better safe than sorry. There was a lady in the Washington Post who was in the news cause she called Seattle-ites Snow Wimps...I'll let you be the judge.
I had the office to myself all week since most people worked from home. I have always loved the idea of a snow day, who doesn't? I was a little saddened that I couldn't make any excuses since I can walk down a hill to work while others frolic, ski, sled and play on the unexpected day off. I toiled at work but it was good to make some progress. It was pretty and a nice break in the scenery. I took some fun walks in the snow after work. Below you'll see some pix and links to videos I took.
