We go east, we go west, north and south - this time...Lake Quinault

I've always liked a good deal, bargain...this is in the Padilla blood. From the moment I was able to go on day trips, my grandma and aunt had me in the back seat of their car and we were off to the yard sales. And they still do to this day. It's pretty much a full day event, but it has instilled in me, the goals of always finding something cheaper...well not as extreme for me as for them, but I don't like to pay full price if I don't have to. With my limited PNW non profit budget, think DC minus $5-10k, I yearn to go on adventures, but it can be pricey here. With the distances (at least a few hours) and ferry fees, gas, etc...prices add up. Public transportation isn't ideal either, unless you have 2 days to get somewhere that's only 5 driving hours away. In comes my obsession with perusing "deal websites." I did this in DC before I even moved across the country and when I got out here tried but a lot of it was further away...but then I realized, I can go to all these epic places and also do it more on a shoestring budget.

Enter the title of this blog. David and I visited one of my bucket list PNW spots - Lake Quinault. It was gorgeous and we stayed in a really nice room on the lake, part of the Lake Quinault Lodge, and for only $100/night, normally its $200. I took food to eat for breakfast and lunches, and we ate out dinners. And breakfast on the last day since neither of us could stomach another "crunchy bar" or satsuma.

We visited many of the "biggest trees in the world" - there are many species in this area of the country since this area is considered rain forest. It actually claims it gets the most rainfall/year in the contiguous 48 states --despite this, it didn't rain one drop on our visit. It was great. We stopped at the beach on they way, to a cute little area called Ruby Beach, we saw countless mushrooms, and we ate two dinners at the Salmon House, what David has proclaimed as "the best salmon he's had in his entire life, " and watched The Wonder Years on netflix. The leaves were all colorful, there were hardly any tourists and we slept. Perfect mini-vacay. Many pictures to follow...
