After a few weeks back in PA, I headed east to visit family. Since taking the turnpike is both very expensive and boring, I decided that I would take the country route through the Laurel Highlands. I'd never driven through this area before and it was both beautiful and interesting. I stopped at multiple covered bridges, someone's house to buy homemade maple syrup, and passed painted barns. The highway is called the Lincoln Highway/Route 30, however it's not actually a road Lincoln traveled but in honor of him. Wikipedia: "
The Lincoln Highway was the first transcontinental highway for automobiles across the United States of America. Lincoln Highway ran coast-to-coast from Times Square in New York City to Lincoln Park in San Francisco, originally through 13 states"
I thought about stopping to pick blueberries or tour Fort Ligonier, there is much history on this road since many sites of the French and Indian War were not far from this road.
