In rushes the wind and the season's finally begin to change. It's been the loveliest summer since the 2.5 years I've lived here. Many warm days where wearing skirts, t-shirts and shorts with sandals was a reality. I may have actually received the amount of Vitamin D needed. We've even had an prolonged, late summer with temperatures still well in the 70s through September and October. But, this week the fall began to swoosh in, and chacos spend more time inside, warmer layers begin appearing, knit hats, layers, the whole shi-bang.
And my energy level and motivation decrease. The will to get up early in the morning to exercise nearly disappears as it's dark until 7am. Days are shorter is the biggest change. It's never an easy switch on the west coast - so much more obvious and abrupt than the gradual east coast transition. Plentiful decidious trees on the east coast produce gorgeous fall colors which can distract from the imminent winter season. Here, it's like a switch is flipped over night and winter will be here soon, potentially even for 6 months :(. I've got plans for Thanksgiving though and we're a trip to the Oregon coast in the next two months which will provide things to look forward to. And, winter means that I'll learn more about sailing. With a final giving in to a gym membership, I think I'll make it this year :)
