After talking about doing the Mount Storm King hike for over a year, I FINALLY did it! David and I drove to Lake Crescent this past Sunday. The weather was PERFECT. The awesome thing about this hike is it's only 4miles-ish, total. It's not all crazy, epic, insane like so many other hikes in the Olympics. So...with that said, you can take your time getting there, do the hike and be done and still get home at this time of year in the daylight, and it's a good workout! Many of the hikes entail a full day, often hard to commit to when you have only 2 days a week to yourself.
The hike was pretty challenging with around 1,700 ft of elevation gain in 1.7 miles. Our quads were hurting two days after this still. The view from the top was of the lovely Lake Crescent below us. We scrambled a bit higher to where the trail technically ends, but some people have gone beyond and put up ropes. We decided we were content to stay where we were and enjoy the views.
