All things marine + DQ

Last weekend was an adventure on my day off to Port Angeles (1hr west of PT). David and I set off with the intention to visit the mouth of the Elwha River. Currently it is having two large dams removed from this river, actually one has been removed and they're working on the second. David went a month or more ago w/ his parents and was curious of the visible changes since there have been recent articles about the beach looking dramatically different. I hadn't been to the mouth at all. It was a bit anti-climatic and perhaps the most exciting thing was that there were probably hundreds, maybe thousands, of gulls in the surrounding area. I guess there must have been some good eating there. This was followed up by visiting the Dairy Queen (always a special treat and reminder of my home in the east) and the Feiro Marine Life Center and NOAA Marine Discovery Center. It was a day filled with marine excursions, except for the DQ! http://youtu.be/OKLi29esM4g

With my back to the Straits of Juan de Fuca, I'm looking south at the Olympic mountains and where the Elwha begins
