2013 Auction fever

Now already a month past, the PTMSC's annual fundraising auction, was the bane of my existence. Well, there are many things that feel like the bane of my existence, this topped the charts for many months, PNW weather was a close second. While I wasn't the auction chair, having to make all the decisions for this year's auction, I was the Volunteer Coordinator and the event is volunteer run, including the chair!

I'd volunteered for one of these auctions and helped work as staff support last year, but this was the first time I was in this role. The pressure and anxiety of living up to expectations was probably a huge part of my stress, but mostly, balancing this with all my other job responsbilities. I am also the Education Coordinator and January and Februrary were months where setting up ed programs and teaching didn't necessarily stop.

I worked hard, many over time hours, the auction was a huge success and I wouldn't have been able to do it with out all the wonderful volunteers and a very caring and supportive boyfriend. The auction actually ended up being the most financially successful one to date - we grossed over $107k...pretty good for my first one, ey? The chair has the most role in making this happen, but also the volunteers, staff, and of course, generous donors making it there to bid! It felt good to feel that it was not only successful but, tah da! See, I can do it! Hi-yaw! No one can ever tell me that I can't do it. I feel like I really proved my abilities and garnered respect after this event. Most of the volunteers are twice my age, and often feel like my parents or grandparents. This was helpful on days where their wisdom lifted my spirits and hugs warmed my heart. I really can add a huge responsibility to my resume now too! Below are a random assortment of photos. I will post some from the work camera that show the room, etc. TGI Over though!

Two AHmazing volunteers - Dana and Betty - Dana has the best smile and Betty is a genius.
Me and Soozie - Soozie gave me a pair of my favorite jeans
Dick and Eric - Dick tells me stories about comanche indians and I watch Eric's cat in his beautiful house on the hill
