Step 2. Victoria trip

A week ago I went to Victoria, British Columbia. I set off and caught the early 90 min ferry from Port Angeles, WA. Once we landed in Canada, I was questioned and told to stand in the room where I was further questioned why I was there and multiple times, I was asked why I was there alone. Way to rub it in guys!

I spent mid-morning seeking out Chinatown which was about a block long and not too exciting, had a lunch that was really terrible and secretly wanted to just walk out, it was gross, instead I choked it down. Then I walked to Beacon Hill Park (super large green park in the city). There were little streams and manmade lakes with Canada geese, an ampitheatre and a kids petting zoo, views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. I thought maybe if I sat there long enough I may see an orca jump out of the water but no luck. I did see awesome peacocks though who were doing mating dances, which was pretty neato.

I basked in the sun for a bit and then walked to the parliament buildings which were mobbed by tourists and then headed back to this artist street fair on Bashion Street. There'd been some cute flower earrings (real ones in resin) from a man who was from Salt Spring Island (some magical place I've heard of here) that I decided to go back and purchase. At his suggestion, I huffed it across town to Fisherman's Wharf.

The walk was pleasant and I regretted not going sooner in the day since it ended up being the most lovely walk (except for the pace I had to keep) and I'd wished I'd had my lunch there. It was adorable with little house boats that were all perfect, some even had themes. On the walk back to the ferry I meandered through the residential areas instead and saw little B&B's with cute restaurants and wished that I'd had a companion so that I could make the excuse to stay for the later ferry and have a nice dinner in the great weather. There are also quite a few museums and fancy gardens there but that all costs money and I didn't want to spend a beautiful day instead. Oh well, next time. Total miles walked - somewhere around 5 that day...
