Day 2 - North Cascades to Eastern WA

Yesterday, 7/15/14, I spent the first half of the day in the N. Cascades, mostly on the hwy, some stops here and there. Then I ventured into hot, hot, hot Central and Eastern WA. They're having a heat wave of temps in the 90s and above. I used my AC for the first time since moving to WA 4 years ago, I thought I'd melt. I stopped to see the Coulee Dam, described as one of the largest concrete structures in the world, but it was so hot and late in the day, I couldn't muster to go on a tour and decided to make it to Spokane for the night.

Got very lost looking for a campsite in Riverside State Park in Spokane...1.5hours lost (I could have made it to Montana in that time! grrrr!). Site was on gravel, a mere 5 steps from the communal shower/restroom and on an island of gravel upon 5 feet in every direction was the main drive around for everyone getting camping...and $27, NO THANK YOU. It was 8pm when I left, getting dark, then my buddy Sarahe sent me some campground options...fairy godmother...found Wild Rose RV Park in Colbert, WA...little off the track I want to be on, but Lon (the owner) welcomed me in and gave me a little grassy area, I can pick all the veggies for free in his garden, showers/restrooms, free wifi, around the corner from a gas station (supplies), and has a clubhouse with AC/kitchen/tv, which no one but me (the only tent camper) uses. And only $20!
I've felt very sad and emotional to leave my PT home and peeps, but feel like I've got to commit to this journey, test myself and then I can go back to my home of Washington after some time of thinking and reassessing. Thank you so much for everyone's love, support via texts, calls, emails, cards.
