West Yellowstone
The morning I set off for Yellowstone, I was running late. The wifi at my campground was super slow and I gave up updating this blog and set off. I decided to drive immediately to the ranger station, get some advice, and then find a campsite. The first campsite I arrived to was full, the second (also the largest in the park) was also full. The ranger advised going to West Yellowstone. I set off, traveling 15 miles west of the park, and in the process, on goes the check engine light. I should also mention that before I left, I'd been smelling fumes. Had I any sense, I should have looked under the hood, but I didn't. Long story short, it was a Sunday, I had to wait until Monday to go to a mechanic, so found a camp site at an rv park, set up camp and waited. Monday came and the mechanic discovered something very simple that I could have fixed. The oil cap was nearly falling off and oil was splattered all inside the hood, hence the fumes. Fortunately, I'd stopped driving as the oil was so low, I could have done more damage to the engine. All was fixed up and well and I set off to explore the park. I did the exploring in one day, yes, one day. See next posting for those photos.
