Teton's, Central Wyoming, Dinosaurs

Up early and on the road from West Yellowstone, back into the park, and south toward the teton's by 6am. It was a beautiful, but chilly morning. I snapped a few shots going through Yellowstone, which felt like a different universe without all the tourists milling about. An hour south and I could see the Teton's off to the west. While they were lovely, they were so far away, I felt like I was looking at a postcard. This diversion in my path south, meant that I needed to go through some pretty dull areas of Wyoming, on my way east. I headed north to the town of Thermopolis, home of the world's largest natural mineral springs. I went though to this town to see a dinosaur museum. The town was HOT HOT HOT, so into the museum. It wasn't very cool in the museum and I started feeling anxious that I hadn't been making very much progress. I headed back to the car after 40-45minutes and hopped back in. Onward again from Thermopolis to Gillette, WY. This road was fascinating with all sorts of marked rock formations along the way which were often billions of years old. It was beautiful to drive amongst them and imagine what earth looked like at that point. After the rocks, I entered the Bighorn National Forest which was also quite beautiful. My goal had been to make it to the Devil's Tower area to camp for the night, but a severe thunderstorm with 2"+ size hail, prevented me from going any further than Gillette. I found an RV park off the highway and pitched my tent.

See ya Yellowstone
