Cloudie's Adventure - the magic continues

Day Two - Started out with my time on the porch, a slow morning. I set off early to see Point Lookout where I'd be meeting Park Ranger Jonas. I'd met Jonas last June when he came to Seneca to lead our canoe safety course. I recalled him being warm and friendly, so two days before I emailed him to see if he had advice or recommendations of places to go and see, things to do or if he'd be around. Low and behold he offered to give me a tour. I thought the park was much further and arrived 30 minutes early so I went in and started getting excited as I started seeing ospreys everywhere. Then I went to meet Jonas. The park is pretty historical, it used to have a Civil War hospital, a fort, a working lighthouse, the list goes on, I couldn't tell it all to you because I was so stimulated by all the birds everywhere. I was walking around with my binoculars the whole time, turkeys, osprey, pelicans, GBH, hawks, a bird paradise. I was trying to take it all in, he was full of knowledge and rattling it all off to me. And we were talking about the park service and some of his experience, so much. Then he took me to the beach and the pier and the camp store and the nature center. ...I'll continue. Oh yeah, and I saw my first monarch and hummingbird for the season, and within minutes of each other, I belonged there!!!

The old fort, which is mis-named, and those buildings are recreations.

That's actually the Potomac, it's massive here, and I'm looking toward where the old lighthouse is

Yup, and I saw a turkey when we were walking around

Off the fishing pier

There she is! Or he.
